I’m old. That must be it.
I get tired earlier, and want to go to sleep earlier, and so i go to bed earlier. All of this doesn’t work during the World Series – which, for some reason, they played late at night.
Now i understand that Colorado is on mountain time – that’s two hours off eastern time. And they even started the games “earlier” – but that wasn’t THAT early.
But why not start even earlier. The games were on Saturday and Sunday night. Have them start earlier so they finish at 10 pm. (or 8 mountain time) instead of midnight.
Actually if you’re a true fan you’ll stay up and watch.
And if you’re old you’ll read about it in the paper the next morning.
I read about it in the paper.
I’m just old is all. And i like my sleep.

Boston wins series while nation sleeps.
October 29, 2007Opening day.
April 2, 2007The Jays kick off their 2007 season today in Detroit.
I love April baseball.
It’s not just about the possibility of a winning season. It’s about the end of winter. Winter is over. Done. Gone.
Yes, for some strange reason it could snow again, but winter is gone.
That makes me happy.
I also like mid-day april baseball. those weird 12:35 or 12:37 pm start times.
My favourite Jays game of all time was in April 1985 when my dad took me. I had a day off school, we sat really close, I got a ball during batting practice that, at the end of the game, Ernie Whitt autographed.
Good times.
I’m looking forward to next monday when Toronto’s home opener against the KC Royals. I’ve got my ticket.
Man Well Lee.
March 20, 2007Two winters ago I went to a card store that sold you three Mario Lemieux cards for 25 cents from a gumball type machine. I got my brother about 20 of them.
I dropped by there today and bought 50 cents worth (FIDDY CENT?) of “Classic” Toronto Blue Jays cards.
Yeah, i’m getting ready for another season up in the 500 level in Skydome.
Gibby and the boys will be back from Florida soon, and playing in the cement bowl by the lake.
Word is, the team is going to make a run for the wild card this year.
Go Jays go.
So what’s the best card I got today? A Dave Stieb. You should see his ’stash.
The worst? Manny Lee.
Schilling for your thoughts?
March 8, 2007Boston Red Sox pitcher Curt “Bloody Sock” Schilling has a blog.
You can read it here.
I like the part where he talks about working in a new pitch, a Change-Up, into his arsenal.
There is also a moment where he talks about a single solitary slider pitch and worrying that, if it’s the best one he’s ever pitched in his life, that it’s wasted being pitched during spring training (as opposed to say, the seventh game of the world series to get Albert Pujhols to ground out into a double play).
He’s at his best when he takes us into the minutiae of baseball. Waving off the catcher, for example.
He’s not so good when he’s sorta shilling products – like the part where he’s talking about some 38 studio/video game company he has going.
Schilling, stick to Schilling.
